Hanover – The ID.Buzz has grown in length and performance. VW is now introducing a variant with an extended wheelbase and a GTX model, which the plant says will go on sale around summer. Prices for the XL version start at 62,719 euros, about 2,000 euros more than the standard Buzz. VW has not yet announced the price of the GTX.
The long wheelbase moves the axles 25 centimetres apart, stretching the electric MPV’s length to 4.96 centimetres, which creates space inside for three rows of seating for six or seven people, or up to 2,469 litres of luggage.
A larger battery also fits into the floor. It now has a capacity of 86 kWh, enough for a range of up to 487 kilometers, and can be charged at 200 kW. The 79 kWh battery in the shorter ID.Buzz has also been optimized and can now be charged at 185 kW. In future, it will be powered by a new 210 kW/286 hp electric motor at the front, enabling a top speed of 160 km/h.

A sporty GTX version will be released after the summer holidays, at an as yet undisclosed price, and will be available in long and short wheelbase. It is powered by two engines, both of which produce 250 kW/340 hp, the most powerful in a van to date, and will accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in a top time of 6.1 seconds, although it may slow down at 160 km/h.
