Ing’s business in Italy is growing. In the first half
summer 2024 the Dutch banking group got 63 thousand customers of the country, bringing the total private clients (retail banking) to over 1.25 million as of June 30, 2024. The increase in the customer base was accompanied by growth in collection (+12%), loans (+9.3%) and assets under management (+28%).At group level, ING reports net income of 3.4 billion euros (-10.4% compared to the same period of 2023) in the first half of the year and 1.8 billion in the second quarter (-17.4%). The company will pay a dividend interim cash of 0.35 euros per share.
In Italy, the digital bank is growing
In Italy it is also developing credit quality with the NPL ratio, which measures impaired loans, falling to 2.07%. In six months, the bank also disbursed 616 million new financing in large companies, 129% more on an annual basis, with the aim of expanding in the coming months in sectors such as Food & Agri, Technology, Media and Telecommunications, and Manufacturing.
The company also reports that the number of customers using the Mobile Banking up 9.4%, with 791 thousand customers using the app at least once in the first six months of 2024. Sales also increased digital interactions (+13.2%), reaching 60 million operations. As of June 30, 2024, the bank in Italy has 454 professionals including agents and financial consultants, with an increase of 87 units compared to the previous year, and 22 physical points.
